This exhibit features content from two books that Studio Dialogo designed for The Center for Art, New Ventures and Sustainable Development (CANVAS) -- Safe Space and YOUTHINK (both written by Gigo Alampay, 2020).
The brightly lit space covers Safe Space's data privacy thrust and is practically a 3D walk-through of the book. Hands-free interaction is invited with the photo-op friendly displays, the giant wall maze and a trick blue-red filter print.
Moving into the dark room, covering YOUTHINK, the internet is translated as a city, with skewed boxes representing buildings. Lit from inside, it shows varied content challenging the spread of fake news. The idea is to give the viewer an overview of its coverage and suggest that the viewer when properly informed, is bigger than the seeming enormity of the internet. A reminder that it is still just a tool. A subtle interactive design set up, with the boxes having peep holes on different parts of each box, the viewer is invited to peek and duck to look and read the content of each box.
The exhibition runs until 30 July 2021 at the UP Vargas Museum.
