Liberation: War and Hope Exhibit. Filipinas Heritage Library at the Ayala Museum.
What started as a scheduled exhibit with really fun and informative face to face meetings, got caught in the pandemic. We became reliant on zoom meetings, ingress schedule was wait-and-see, had to know what kind of movement was allowed, donned PPEs and had minimal contact with the team. Finally, after three years, it opened!
The design work entailed an overall planning of how the story of  common folk during World War 2 would be told. Space planning and viewer movement were very important to convey this journey, to share the feeling. Color and movement as tools for the viewer to absorb personal stories were utilized to lighten the otherwise heavy experience that the exhibition shared. Windows of 3-dimensional depictions of life snippets were done by Sir Mel Silvestre and Sir Desi Reyes. Choice of images where also critical, coming from the vast libraries of our curator, Dr. Ricardo Jose and the Filipinas Heritage Library.
